Less than a year after the successful establishment of the Langeberg Branch in Heidelberg, Southern Cape, KAAPJAG has proudly launched its eleventh branch, this time in the scenic Koue Bokkeveld region. The decision was unanimously approved during an extended management meeting on 15 May 2025, following a compelling application and presentation by Andro du Preez, Chairman of the Koue Bokkeveld Shooting Club (and now also the newly appointed Chairman of the KAAPJAG Koue Bokkeveld Branch).
Nestled in the heart of the fruitful Koue Bokkeveld mountain range near the charming town of Op-die-Berg, the new branch boasts a premier shooting range on the Ribbokskloof farm, named in honour of its founder, Klaas Fernhout. This facility supports an array of disciplines, including centre-fire rifle, rimfire rifle, clay target, and handgun shooting. Members can look forward to CHASA disciplines and the always-popular Gong Hunt event.
A formal Memorandum of Understanding secures long-term access to the shooting range, ensuring stability and continuity. The branch launches with an impressive 51 KAAPJAG members, all of whom are fully paid-up members of the local shooting club. These individuals are passionate hunters and sport shooters and long-standing supporters of other KAAPJAG branch events. Their focus remains on achieving high standards of firearm proficiency, both on the range and in the field, and on mentoring the next generation of responsible, skilled firearm users.
Koue Bokkeveld members are eager to welcome fellow KAAPJAG members to their upcoming events. If you're based in the Western Cape and interested in participating in a well-organised shooting event set against a stunning and friendly backdrop, be sure to follow the KAAPJAG calendar and social media channels for updates. The facilities and warm hospitality are sure to impress.
KAAPJAG congratulates Andro du Preez and his team on a successful application and launch. We look forward to supporting the Koue Bokkeveld Branch as it grows into a key contributor to our mission of delivering value-added services and expanding our impact across the Western Cape.
