SPOTLIGHT ON KAAPJAG CENTRAL BRANCH

Chairman: Yaseen Hanware

Yaseen Hanware

Born in Cape Town in 1974, Yaseen spent most of his adult life in the Cape Town area running his own business.

As a high school pupil, he became interested in the Anglo Boer War history and spent many of his Friday afternoons in the library, reading about the skirmishes and firearms used by both sides. This sparked his interest in firearms leading him to the purchase o his first firearm about 20 years ago. Since then, Yaseen has become a dedicated collector of firearms, a competent sport shooter and avid hunter.

He was appointed as Chairman of Central Branch in 2017. Thanks to his leadership and dedication, the branch was awarded the Kaapjag Branch of the Year  trophy, two years consecutively (2020 and 2021).

Not only was he instrumental in placing Central Branch in the top ranks, but Yaseen was also awarded the 2021 Kaapjag Member of the Year title. The award was based on a formal nomination from a member highlighting Yaseen's selfless contribution, not only to the betterment of the branch and the Association as a whole, but also for facilitating a considerable donation of feed and cash to the drought stricken farmers in the Karoo with the assistance of Gift of the Givers.

Branch vision

Yaseen’s vision for his branch is to work towards normalising things after the effect that Covid-19 had on our activities. He would like to see his branch grow and become the best branch for the following two years as well. His vision for Kaapjag is to remain the largest association in CHASA and to become a true home for the hunter and shooter in the Western Cape. He would like to see many more young people attracted to the sport and association and will continue working towards that goal.

Kaapjag is proud to be associated with Yaseen. He is truly a gentleman and an advocate for conservation and the protection of the right to hunt. His humble service to the members of his branch is admirable and his generosity knows no bounds.
